Hi Frugalistas! I’m finally ready to kick off my series of posts on Istanbul. Because it’s Friday, and that means Friday fotos, I’m kicking off the series with some of the pretty little pusses I met in Istanbul. If you travel to Istanbul, one of things you can’t help but notice is the number of cats around. They tend to hang around shops, restaurants and anywhere where there are large numbers of people. Shopkeepers encourage them with food – so they must be good for business!

I think cats are adorable. I love your photo with the mama and young kitty. I used to have a Caturday segment on my blog celebrating the kitties I met. But I ran out of cat photos.

It’d be an interesting collection of photos of cats in large cities around the world! The city I remember most with a lot of cats was Buenos Aires, partly by the sheer number of little kittEHs, but also by the cavalier attitude people had with their cats.
Someone was talking about the Buenos Aires cats on Twitter – they are obviously a “thing”. When I get enough photos, I might just do cats around the world!

I didn’t know about the “cat orphanage”. There are certainly some places that seem to attract them more so than others.
So cute! I remember the calico “Patiently waiting for the restaurant to open” — 1-2 blocks up the hill from Gulhane Station!
Do check out the small “cat orphanage” outside Suley Mosque — there are about 20 adorable stray kitties there at any one time! (Hopefully in their house this time of year!!) 🙂
