Hi Frugalistas! A more “gentle” Friday fotos this week as we visit the Athens central fruit and vegetable market. Like many European cities fruit and vegetable stalls and small markets are dotted around the city in Athens. As part of our Culinary Backstreets walk we visited the slightly larger produce market directly across the street from the meat and fish markets. Out in the sunshine everything looked so delicious – I couldn’t wait to share these with you!
Such a pretty walk! And part of a great day. You’ll be hearing more about my Culinary Backstreets walk in future posts.
Author’s note: I received a media rate for my Culinary Backstreets walk
It was quite a small market, but the colours were so vibrant
I would so love to be at the market with you in Athens….what a fabulous treat!!!
Those pictures made me hungry! I love visiting markets when I travel.
Same here! I love the colours and the atmosphere.
Love the fruit market shots! Greek oranges are something else! Remember our hotel on Crete provided oranges just like these alongside the juicing machine. Made the most wonderful freshest sweetest juice. Some of the simplest fresh foods in Greece are the best – up in the mountains near Delphi and the hilltop monasteries the little hotels served local yoghurt and the most wonderful wildflower honey for breakfast. Your pictures bring back many happy memories. Pamela
Thank you Pamela. Those oranges are wonderful aren’t they? There’s more Greek food to come – including some fabulous yoghurt with honey!
