Hi France Travel Planners! Welcome to your series of basic French for travellers. In addition to the video, each lesson will be accompanied by a downloadable vocabulary list that will build over time into a handy reference. We will also include some regular vocabulary in the Facebook group via Facebook Live so you can ask questions, and hear how to use the vocabulary you are learning in the video in real life.
This first lesson is on greetings in French. French greetings are terribly important. Every time you enter a shop or a restaurant, or even at the supermarket checkout you must greet your server. It is considered very rude not to. A simple bonjour or bonsoir will ensure you are met with a smile and will receive better service.
This video covers basic greetings – what to say, when to say it and how to say it. It includes the differences in what to say when you arrive, and what to say when you leave. The teacher goes quite slowly, and repeats everything she says in French back in English, so it is suitable for absolute beginners.

While there is a vocabulary list at the end of the lesson, you might like to download your vocabulary from today’s lesson so you can keep it for future reference:
